Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 3 8 inch round pans.

  2. Mix cake mix, oil, water, and eggs until fully incorporated. Pour into prepared cake pans.

  3. Bake for 25-28 minutes or until middles spring back when pressed.

  4. Cool in pans for 10 minutes and then invert on wire racks to continue cooling.

Strawberry Filling

  1. While cake is baking, combine chopped strawberries and sugar. Set aside while cake bakes and cools. Strawberries will break down and create liquid.

Frosting

  1. Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, salt, and vanilla until smooth. In separate, chilled bowl, beat whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into cream cheese mixture.

Layering

  1. Once cake layers are completely cooled, place one layer on serving plate. Pipe 1 inch border of frosting around edge of layer to contain well of strawberries in the middle. Repeat with second and third layer.

  2. Frost top and sides of layered cake. Garnish with more fresh strawberries if desired.

  3. Store in refrigerator.
